The SAPFI© is currently the only scientific and standardised instrument in South Africa that screens for work-related psychological fitness risks. |
The SAPFI© is available in all 11 official languages of South Africa |
The SAPFI© is a very affordable and time effective tool, it takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete a SAPFI© screening. |
The instrument predicts the psychological fitness risk of an individual by comparing the responses of the individual to the SA norm. These risks are categorised as an immediate risk, potential risk (severity indicated as high potential, potential or low potential), and moderate/low risk. A one page report is provided for each individual screening indicating the risks |
Psychological fitness risks do not imply psychiatric disease, therefore the SAPFI© is not an instrument that assesses psychiatric or mental disease; it assesses the energetic and motivational fitness of individuals as well as the incidence of stress-related psychological/physical symptoms that might prevent an individual to apply his/her full potential in the workplace including to act safely. |
The purpose of the SAPFI© is only to screen individuals for psychological fitness risks. The recovery process plan for risk cases is the responsibility of the organisation and its internal support infrastructure. |
The instrument does not provide for the reasons for psychological fitness risks. If psychological fitness risks are evident, individual interviews or focus group discussions could be implemented to assess possible situational and/or personal causes contributing to psychological fitness detriments |
The SAPFI© is not a psychometric instrument. It does not assess personality traits and a health care professional can administer the SAPFI©. |
The SAPFI© does not measure personality traits and therefore assumes that appropriate psychometric assessment took place before the appointment and placement of the employee, i.e., person-job fit has been ensured including the exclusion of acrophobia (fear of heights). |
The SAPFI© does not assess the competence of an individual to execute his/her work or to act safely and assumes that the individual has the competence to conduct his/her work activities. |
The SAPFI© assumes that the individual has the physical fitness and health to conduct his/her work activities. |
